Lalonde Gordon sprints to gold in 200m

DOUBLE Olympic bronze medallist, Lalonde Gordon recorded his second win of the season when he sprinted to victory in the Men’s 200m event at the U Albany Great Dane Indoor Classic in New York, USA, on Friday.

The lanky Tobagonian clocked a golden time of 20.91 seconds. Receiving silver was Maryland E Shore/ Jamaica’s Andre Walsh in 21.38s while US athlete, David Verburg (George Mason) grabbed bronze in a time of 21.55s. Last week, the national runner bagged his first indoor gold of the season when he emerged victorious in the Men’s 300m event at the New York City Gotham Cup. His time was 32.48s. At the same meet, TT athlete Jeanelle Ovid (Morgan State) missed out on medalling in the Women’s High Jump. Her distance of 1.65 was only enough to grasp fourth position.

Meanwhile, Gordon’s Olympic 4x400m bronze teammate Jarrin Solomon, also copped gold on day-one of the Cherry and Silver Indoor Invitational, which sprinted off in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Friday. Solomon clocked a golden time of 1:17.63.
