Cougars Track and Field Club landed their third NAAA Juvenile Track & Field Championships at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port-of-Spain over the weekend. The five-year-old club amassed 360 points to be well clear of nearest pursuers Zenith (285), Point Fortin New Jets (268), Memphis Pioneers (264) and D’Abadie Progressive (205).

The team in green, black and white started the meeting with a bang when Elijah John and Kianna Llewlyn winning the first two sprint events before Shaniqua Bascombe made it three for three by winning the Girls under-11 80m, 150m and Long Junp events.

The other standouts at the games were Aquilla St Louis who won the under-15 girls 300m hurdles, Janae Spinks, Devin Augustine and Adell Colthrust as they completed easy doubles.

In the under-15 boys 200m final Colthrust looked in a different league to his rivals and is set to take his ranks in the sprinting world. Shaniqua Bascombe of Cougars (20.41) made all the running to beat Claudine Antoine of Neon Trackers (20.49) and Kernell Waldron of Burnley (20.84) in the under-11 girls 150m dash. Devin Augustine of Point Fortin New Jets (19.42) was an easy winner in the under-11 boys from the Memphis Pioneers, pair of Shakeem Mc Kay (20.03) and Dominic John (20.13).
