Trinidad Guardian :: 22.07.2013

BASSETERRE—There is no place for former World 100 metres champion Kim Collins in the St Kitts and Nevis team for the 14th IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Moscow next month.

The St Kitts & Nevis Amateur Athletic Association (SKNAAA) announced a team of six athletes and two officials for the Championships, scheduled for August 10-18, and Collins is not among the athletes chosen to represent the Federation.

The all-male team will include Antoine Adams (100m, 200m, 4x100m Relay); Jason Rogers (100m, 4x100m Relay); Lestrod Roland (200m, 4x100m Relay); Brijesh Lawrence (4x100m Relay); Allistar Clarke (4x100m Relay) and Delwayne Delaney (4x100m Relay).

“I am very pleased with the selections made,” said SKNAAA President, Glenville Jeffers. “It is a good mix of experience and young talent and the chemistry between them is great which is vital in meets like the upcoming World Championships. We are expecting outstanding performances in the sprints.”

Despite clocking the 11th fastest time of the year (9.97) and a national record, Collins and the authorities in St Kitts are still feuding following the withdrawal of his accreditation at the 2012 London Olympic Games.

Collins, the fifth fastest Caribbean athlete so far this year, has not represented St Kitts & Nevis at the national since his withdrawal from the Games.
