Interim leader of the Independent Liberal Party (ILP) Jack Warner yesterday offered his “heartiest congratulations” to Jehue Gordon on his gold medal win at the 400-metre hurdles at the IAAF.

“Mr Gordon joins the band of elite athletes such as Hasely Crawford, Ato Boldon, Keshorn Walcott and quite recently George Bovell III, who located Trinidad and Tobago as a destination for sporting excellence in the global village,” Warner said in a media release.

“His success has made us as a nation proud. It has restored hope in our people. It demonstrates that we are not just talented and gifted but also disciplined because it is discipline that is needed to climb the pinnacles of success,” Warner said.

He described Gordon as a “beacon of hope”.

“Moreover, he has always been a worthy ambassador and a bright spark for the people of Trinidad and Tobago,” he said.
