I always had faith, says UWI head

UWI St Augustine campus prin­cipal and pro vice-chancellor, Prof Clement Sankat yesterday congratulated Jehue Gordon for his win at the 2013 IAAF World Championships in Athletics in Russia.

Sankat said he has always had faith in Gordon’s abilities and was confident his next stint at the Olympics would yield even greater results.

Gordon is enrolled in the BSc in sports management degree programme at The University of the West Indies (UWI), St Augustine, and plans to pursue a master’s at UWI in the same field.

Sankat said of Gordon, “He strives to balance academia and a sports career, a feat to be lauded, given the lure of sponsorship and international fame.”
