Green Mountain marathon runs off September 24

Two events, the full marathon and the five-mile race will comprise the third annual National Quarries Arima Green Mountain Marathon, which will run off on the morning of September 24. Five participants in both the men’s and women’s divisions will receive cash prizes in the open marathon, which is set to run off from the Blanchisseuse to the office of the Member of Parliament for Arima, on Robinson Circular, Arima, from 5.30 am.

The fastest man and woan will receive $5,000 for the their successes, while the runners-up receive $4,000. The third to fifth placed finishers in the men’s and women’s categories will receive $3,000, $2,000 and $1,000, respectively. The five-mile event, which runs off from Lalaja, Blanchisseuse will end at the same finish line of the full marathon. It will run off from 6.30 am. The categories in this event includes age groups of 15-30, 31-45, 46-55 and 56-and-over.

There are four registration centres for interested participants, the Arima MP’s Office, the COP Operations Centre, Charlieville, the COP Flagship House, Woodbrook and the COP head office, San Fernando. The event is also sponsored by Limestone Quarries and is brought about by the Foundation for Better Life and Learning and the MP for Arima. The Ministry of Sport has supplied trophies and medals for the event.
