Lendore 3rd in final Diamond League meet

T&T quartermiler Deon Lendore made another successful run in the men's 400 metres at the Weltklasse Zurich meet, the Wanda Diamond League Final at Letzigrund Stadium in Switzerland on Thursday.

Lendore sprinted across the line in a time of 44.81 seconds to finish behind American Michael Cherry, who threw himself across the line to edge reigning Olympic bronze medallist Kirani James of Grenada to claim the Diamond trophy. Cherry won in 44.41 and James was second in 44.42.

Filling the other spots respectively were USA's Vernon Norwood (44.84), Liemarvin Bonevacia of the Netherlands (45.35), Botswanan Isaac Makwala (45.41), Ricky Petrucciani (46.38) and Italy's Davide Re (46.64).
