T&T's Kelsey Daniel doubled this country's medal tally at the inaugural Junior Pan American Games which continued in Cali, Colombia on Wednesday when he won a silver medal in the men's long jump event. On Tuesday Tyriq Horsford won a bronze in the men's javelin event.

Competing at Estadio Pascual Guerrero, Pista, Daniel took the silver medal with a leap of 7.90 metres to finish behind Cuban Maikel Ganzalez, who won with a distance of 7.97 metres while Colombian, Jhon Andres took bronze with 7.82 metres.

Clement Campbell, T&T's other entrant in the men's long jump ended in the ninth spot with a best of 7.27 metres.

Daniel recorded distances of 5.79 metres, 7.74, 7.64, 7.90 respectively, before skipping his fifth attempt. He then recorded 7.82 metres in the sixth effort before repeating his 7.90m jump in his seventh and final attempt.

Decathlete Anson E'der Moses also faced an uphill task to medal at the same venue up to press time on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the 21-year-old Moses was fourth in the men's 100 metres sprint in 11.33 seconds for 789 points in heat one.

The top three finishers were host athlete Julio Angulo in 10.92 for 878 points, just ahead of Brazil's Jonathan Da Silva (10.94) for 874 points and Cuban Yancarios Hernandez Souchay who ran 11.03 for 854 points while Venezuelan, Armando Rincon ended in the fifth and final spot in 11.63 for 725 points.

In heat two, Brazilian Jose Santana won in 10.98 for 865 points followed by Argentina's Damian Moretta (11.01), Mexico's Miguel Romero (11.04) and El Salvador's Esteban Guevara (11.07) who tallied 858, 852 and 845 points respectively while Venezuelan Ricardo Arraez ended fifth in 12.08 for 635 points.

Next up for Moses was the long jump in which he placed eighth with a leap of 6.56 metres for 711 points.

Guevera won with a leap of 7.1 metres for 838 points, narrowly ahead of Souchay (6.99) and Santana's 6.9.

Moses then placed eighth in the shot put with 10.9 metres his best effort for 540 points which was followed by a joint third-place finish in the men's high jump with a leap of 1.86 metres with his eight and final attempt of 679 points, the same as five other competitors inclusive of Jose Santana (Brazil), Cuban Yancarlos Souchay, Argentina's Damian Moretta and Colombian Armando Rincon.

Moses had started by clearing the bar at 1.65m followed by 1.68m, 1.71m, 1.74m, 1.77m, 1.80m and 1.83m.

The Colombia pair of Julio Angulo and Ricardo Arraez were joint winners of the event after clearing 1.89 metres for 705 points each.

However, in his fifth event on Tuesday, Moses had an unfortunate end to his first night of competition after he along with Mexican Miguel Romero were disqualified in heat two of the men's 400m, thus dealing a serious blow to their points tally which stood at 2,719 after five events.

And on Wednesday, Moses was fifth in the 110m hurdles in 15.74 seconds for 762 points, and seventh in the discus throw with a distance of 30.96m for 483 points, with the pole vault, javelin throw and 1,500m events still to come.

At the Hernando Botero O'byrne Swimming Pool, USA-based swimmer Gabriela Donahue ended in the eighth spot in women's 200m individual medley A-final two minutes, 24.63 seconds.

The winner of the gold medal was Uruguayan Nicole Rodriguez in 2:17.46, well ahead of Argentina's Maria Alborzen (2:19.53 mins), and Brazilian Fernanda De Goeij (2:19.32) who got silver and bronze respectively.

In the men's 1,500m freestyle, Graham Chatoor ended in the sixth spot in 16 minutes, 20.48 seconds while in the men's 4x100m medley relay placed eighth in four minutes, 02.66 from lane two.
