T&T's two-time Olympic medallist Keshorn Walcott threw a season's best (sb) 89.07 metres to bag a bronze in the men's javelin event at the 41st edition of the FBK Games in Hengelo, Netherlands, on Monday.

Walcott, competing at his fourth meet of the season, placed third behind world-leading Anderson Peters of Grenada, who bettered the meet record of 83.90m achieved by Klaus Tafelmeier (Germany) in 1986, with his 90.75m-effort to win the gold. Germany's Julian Weber took the silver with 89.54m.

"It was a wonderful competition, amazing results," said Walcott in an interview after the meet. "We pushed each other, if the other performs, you need to answer. I am having a really good season so far. We did not expect it, but when the rain stopped, the results came. The crowd really lifted up our results, it was so wonderful all the cheering."

Walcott, who won gold at the 2012 London Olympics and bronze at the 2016 Rio Games, continued his successful run, reaching the podium in each event he has competed in thus far this season.

The 29-year-old opened with a gold back in March at the Yellow Jacket Invitational at the George C Griffin Track in Atlanta, Georgia, USA with his best throw measuring 84.68m. Then followed up with silver medals at the Internationales Leichtathletik Meeting at the Paul-Greifzu Stadium, Dessau, Germany with a then season-best 84.69m and at the 61st Golden Spike at the Mestsky Stadium in Ostrava, Czech Republic with 84.47m.

On Sunday, several T&T athletes competed at the 20th annual Music City Track Carnival in Nashville, Tennessee, USA. Two had podium finishes in B finals including Asa Guevara and Iantha Wright.

T&T's Asa Guevara won the Pro Men's 400m B race with a season's best 45.86 seconds ahead of USA pair Noah Williams (45.96-sb) and Tony McQuay (46.39), respectively. Another T&T quarter-miler Machel Cedenio was scheduled to compete but he did not start.

Wright placed third in the Pro women's 200m B dash, with a 23.75-clocking respectively behind American A'Keyla Mitchell (22.55) and Philippines' Kayla Richardson (23.33).

The T&T sprinter also lined up in the Pro Women's 100m and placed sixth in the heat one to finish 16th overall with an 11.70-timing. Khalifa St Fort also faced the starter in the dash and placed fifth in heat two to be 15th overall in a time of 11.62 in the first round. Neither T&T sprinters advanced to the final which was swept by Americans Tamari Davis with a personalÊbest of 10.91 seconds, Maybeth Sant-Price (10.96) and Morolake Akinosun (11.00), respectively.

Portious Warren just missed out on a medal in the women's shot put, placing fourth with 17.23m which she achieved in her sixth and final throw. Jessica Ramsey of the United States won with 18.26m with Jamaican Lloydricia Cameron second with 18.01-sb and in third place Haley Teel (USA) with 17.31-sb.

Warren fouled her first and fourth efforts but had marks of 16.53m in the second round, 17.08 in the third and 16.98m in the fifth.

Ruebin Walters was also a fourth-place finisher in the Pro men's 110m hurdles final. Running in lane six, the T&T hurdler clocked 13.62 to also miss the podium in an event swept by the Americans Freddie Crittendon (13.31-sb), Jarret Eaton (13.40 sb) and Paris Williams (13.56), respectively.
