Ahye 5th again in Swiss meet

T&T's Michelle-Lee Ahye was fifth again in the women's 100 metres at the Gala del Castille International meeting of athletics at the Municipal Stadium of Bellinzonain in Ticino, Switzerland on Tuesday.

It was her second fifth spot finish in two days and coincidentally, she clocked the same time of 11.19 seconds.

Two-time Olympic gold medallist Jamaican Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce Jamaica won in a meet record time of 10.78. Switzerland runners Mujinga Kambundji (10.99) and Ajla Del Ponte (11.11), filled the second third spots, respectively. Natasha Morrison of Jamaica was the other runner finishing ahead of Ahye with an 11.17-timing.

The sixth to eighth places were filled, respectively by Germany's Alexandra Burghardt with 11.30, Poland's Anna Kielbasinska with a personal best time of 11.30 and LĀŽonie Pointet of Switzerland with 11.49.

On Sunday at the ISTAF Berlin, a World Athletics continental tour silver level series, at the Olympiastadion in Germany, Ahye crossed fifth with 11.19 in the dash which was won by Daryll Neita of Great Britain (11.04) with Morrison in second place with 11.09 and her Jamaican compatriot Briana Williams, third in 11.16. German Alexandra Burghardt was the other sprinter to beat Ahye to the line in 11.17.
